Why Consumers Choose to Buy Directly from Zenddu

FURNITURE FOR CONSUMERS

Zenddu supplies handcrafted Indonesian furniture directly to consumers furnishing luxury homes, large residences, holiday villas, vacation properties, and estates worldwide.

Based in Bali and Java since 2018, we manufacture furniture using sustainable reclaimed teak wood, suar wood, and rattan with the same quality we supply to hotels, resorts, and international furniture retailers.

While our primary business is wholesale and trade supply, we welcome consumer orders meeting our minimum requirements: export orders require minimum USD $5,000 total value, and local Bali/Java orders require minimum IDR 10,000,000 total value.

These minimums ensure project scope aligns with our manufacturing capabilities and international shipping economics.

We provide custom manufacturing from your specifications, complete property furniture packages, and individual statement pieces for consumers seeking authentic Indonesian craftsmanship unavailable through retail channels.

Direct Manufacturer Access Without Retail Markup

Buying directly from a furniture manufacturer eliminates retail markup, potentially saving 40-60% compared to purchasing equivalent Indonesian furniture through overseas retail stores or importers.

Retail furniture pricing includes wholesale cost, importer margin, distributor margin (if applicable), and retail store overhead and margin. By purchasing directly from Zenddu, you pay manufacturing cost plus our margin only, accessing the same quality furniture sold in luxury furniture showrooms at significantly lower investment.

For consumers furnishing entire properties or purchasing substantial furniture quantities, direct manufacturer pricing represents meaningful savings.

Authentic Indonesian Craftsmanship with Documentation

Purchasing directly from the source ensures authenticity. Zenddu furniture is genuinely handcrafted by skilled Indonesian artisans in Java and Bali using traditional techniques, not mass-produced elsewhere and simply labeled “Indonesian style.”

We provide documentation for SVLK timber legality verification, and artisan information about who crafted your furniture. This documentation proves authenticity while supporting the story and value of furniture in your home.

Consumers investing in quality furniture appreciate knowing exactly what they’re buying and where it comes from.

Custom Furniture Manufactured to Your Specifications

Most furniture retail stores offer limited customization – perhaps fabric selection or finish color from predetermined options. As a manufacturer, Zenddu creates truly custom furniture designed specifically for your home.

Share dimensions of the space you’re furnishing, reference photos of furniture styles you love, specific materials you want used, finish colors matching your interior palette, and any special requirements, and we manufacture furniture meeting your exact specifications.

Custom capability is particularly valuable for consumers with unique spatial constraints, specific aesthetic visions, or desire for furniture that cannot be purchased elsewhere.

Same Quality Hotels and Resorts Specify

Zenddu furniture is manufactured to commercial hospitality standards – the same durability requirements hotels demand. This means furniture in your home exceeds typical residential furniture standards, providing decades of reliable performance.

Our construction includes commercial-grade joinery techniques, reinforced structural elements, finish systems resistant to daily use, and quality control processes ensuring consistency.

While you’re purchasing for residential use without commercial demands, you receive furniture built to withstand far more than typical home use, essentially overbuilt for residential application and likely lasting your lifetime.

Complete Property Furnishing Capability

Consumers furnishing entire properties – new luxury homes, vacation villas, holiday estates, or significant renovations – benefit from Zenddu’s comprehensive capability.

We supply furniture for all rooms and spaces including living areas, dining rooms, bedrooms, outdoor spaces, lighting, and decorative accessories from a single source. This simplifies procurement dramatically compared to sourcing from multiple furniture stores or trying to coordinate various suppliers.

We ensure design consistency across your property, coordinate delivery timing, and provide single point of accountability. Complete property packages naturally meet our order minimums.

Sustainable Materials with Environmental Integrity

Consumers increasingly value sustainable purchasing but struggle to verify environmental claims in retail furniture marketing. Zenddu provides verified sustainable materials with documentation proving claims.

Our reclaimed teak is genuinely salvaged from old Indonesian buildings with documented origins, not new wood marketed deceptively. FSC certification is independently audited, not self-declared.

SVLK timber legality is government-verified. Low-VOC finishes meet environmental standards. For environmentally conscious consumers, this verification provides confidence that furniture investment aligns with values without greenwashing.

Custom dining tables are among our most popular consumer purchases. Combining several statement pieces often achieves minimum requirements. Popular individual pieces include large dining tables, console tables for entryways or hallways, custom desks for home offices, substantial wardrobes or storage units, outdoor dining sets, statement lighting pieces (chandeliers, pendant clusters), and decorative elements (mirrors, room dividers, carved panels).

The Consumer Ordering Process

Step 1: Determine If Zenddu Is Right for Your Project

Before contacting us, consider whether your furniture needs align with our business model:

Good Fit Indicators:
– Furnishing entire property or substantial portions (likely meeting minimums naturally)
– Multiple furniture pieces or custom items totaling minimum values
– Luxury home, vacation property, or estate with significant furniture investment
– Desire for custom furniture unavailable through retail channels
– Appreciation for authentic handcrafted Indonesian furniture
– Comfort with 4-6 month timeline from order to delivery
– Understanding that direct manufacturer purchasing differs from retail shopping experience

Less Ideal Fit:
– Single small furniture piece (unlikely to meet minimums alone)
– Immediate furniture need (we require months for production and shipping)
– Preference for seeing/touching furniture before purchasing (though we provide extensive photos and samples)
– Expectation of retail-style shopping with immediate purchase and delivery

Step 2: Initial Consultation & Requirements Discussion

Contact us with information about your project:

Helpful Information:
– What are you furnishing? (entire home, specific rooms, vacation property, individual pieces)
– Where is the furniture destination? (affects shipping and timeline)
– When do you need furniture delivered? (establishes if our timeline works)
– What is your aesthetic direction? (modern, traditional, tropical, minimalist, rustic, etc.)
– Do you want catalog furniture, custom pieces, or both?
– Do you have reference photos, inspiration images, or specific designs in mind?
– What is your approximate budget or target investment?

Step 3: Design Development & Quotation

Based on your requirements, we develop a detailed proposal:

For Catalog Furniture:
Add Product selections to the quote cart to request prices.

For Custom Furniture:
Design consultation understanding your vision, shop drawings showing proposed furniture with dimensions and details, material and finish specifications, samples if appropriate (fabric swatches, wood species samples, finish samples), itemized pricing, complete timeline from order through delivery.

Quotation Includes:
Itemized furniture list with per-piece pricing, total furniture cost, specification and materials for each piece, size and CBM of each product, estimated timeline, payment terms, and terms and conditions.

You review, ask questions, request modifications, and approve when satisfied. Custom designs may require several iterations achieving your exact vision.

Step 4: Order Confirmation & Deposit

Once you approve the quotation, we formalize through:

Purchase Order:
Detailed order documenting exactly what’s being manufactured, specifications, quantities, pricing, timeline, delivery terms, payment terms, and warranty.

Deposit Payment:
50% deposit confirms your order, secures production scheduling, initiates material purchasing, and begins custom design work (if applicable). We accept international wire transfer (Bank transfer and online money transfers).

Step 5: Production & Progress Updates

Your furniture enters production with our artisan network:

For Custom Furniture:
Any modifications needed before production starts can be accommodated. Once production begins, design changes become difficult.

During Production:
We provide progress updates at scheduled milestones. You’re welcome to request additional updates anytime. We send photos at key production stages allowing you to see your furniture taking shape.

Production Timeline:
Standard catalog furniture: 6-8 weeks
Custom furniture: 8-12 weeks
Large orders or complex custom: 10-14 weeks

Step 6: Pre-Shipment Approval

Before shipping, we conduct final quality inspection and provide comprehensive photographic documentation:

Pre-Shipment Photos:
Every piece from multiple angles, close-ups of finish quality and details, the complete order together, any custom elements or special requests.

Your Approval:
Review photos carefully. This is your opportunity to identify any concerns before furniture leaves Indonesia. If something doesn’t meet expectations, we address it immediately through touch-ups, adjustments, or in rare cases, remaking pieces. Most consumers approve enthusiastically, but this safeguard protects your investment.

Step 7: Final Payment & Shipping

Balance Payment:
Remaining 50% balance is due before shipping. We send final invoice with updated shipping details.

Shipping Arrangements:
We handle all Indonesian export procedures and documentation through our freight forwarding partner. Furniture ships via ocean freight to your destination port. We provide tracking information and documentation for customs clearance.

Shipping Timeline:
– To Asia-Pacific: 2-3 weeks
– To US West Coast: 3-4 weeks
– To US East Coast: 5-6 weeks
– To Europe: 6-8 weeks
– To Australia: 2-3 weeks

Step 8: Customs Clearance & Final Delivery

Customs Clearance:
At destination port, furniture must clear customs. Most consumers use licensed customs brokers handling this process (cost typically $100-300). We provide all necessary export documentation. Import duties on wooden furniture are generally low (0-5% in most countries) though some destinations charge VAT/GST (often 10-25%). This is for you to check as you are the importer.

Final Delivery:
After customs clearance, arrange delivery from port to your home. Furniture delivery companies or moving companies can handle this final leg. For large properties with substantial furniture, professional furniture installation services ensure proper placement and assembly.

Step 9: Enjoying Your Furniture

Your furniture is designed and built to last decades with proper care:

Care & Maintenance:
Generally, indoor furniture requires only periodic dusting and occasional cleaning with appropriate products. Outdoor teak furniture can be left natural to develop silver-gray patina or maintained with annual teak oil for golden color.

Warranty:
One-year warranty from delivery covers manufacturing defects including structural failures, joint defects, and finish application defects. Warranty does not cover normal wear, accidents, or misuse.

Long-Term Support:
We remain available for questions about care, maintenance, repair advice, or future furniture needs. Many consumers return for additional furniture as they experience the quality and beauty of Indonesian handcrafted pieces.

Frequently Asked Questions – Consumer & Non-Trade Customers

General Questions About Buying Direct from Manufacturer

Can individual consumers buy furniture directly from Zenddu?

Yes. While Zenddu primarily serves wholesale trade, hospitality, and commercial clients, we welcome consumer orders meeting our minimum requirements. Export orders require minimum USD $5,000 total value, and local Bali/Indonesia orders require minimum IDR 10,000,000 total value. These minimums ensure project scope aligns with our manufacturing capabilities and international shipping economics. Consumers furnishing substantial properties, purchasing custom furniture, or ordering multiple significant pieces easily meet these minimums.

Why does Zenddu have minimum order values for consumers?

We are not a retail shop or online e-commerce store. Minimum order values ensure economic viability for both parties. Manufacturing furniture involves design development, material sourcing, artisan allocation, quality control, and export logistics with fixed costs regardless of order size. International shipping from Indonesia has substantial fixed costs making very small shipments economically inefficient. Minimum order values ensure consumers receive good value (spreading fixed costs across adequate furniture quantity) while we maintain viable business economics. Most consumers furnishing entire rooms or multiple spaces naturally exceed minimums through comprehensive furniture needs.

Is buying directly from a manufacturer better than buying from furniture stores?

Buying directly from manufacturers offers advantages and tradeoffs. Advantages include significantly lower pricing (potentially 40-60% savings versus retail due to eliminating middleman markups), access to custom manufacturing unavailable through most retail stores, direct communication with actual furniture makers, extensive product selection (our 12,000+ item range exceeds most single stores), and authenticity with full documentation.

Tradeoffs include longer lead times (months not days), inability to see/touch furniture before purchasing (though we provide extensive photos and samples), managing international logistics, and less hand-holding than retail shopping experience. For substantial furniture investments where savings, customization, and authenticity matter, direct manufacturer purchasing provides excellent value.

What if I’m not comfortable with the purchasing process?

Purchasing furniture internationally from a manufacturer differs from typical retail furniture shopping and isn’t for everyone. If uncertainty about the process makes you uncomfortable, consider alternatives: work with interior designers who can manage the process on your behalf (we regularly work with design professionals), purchase Indonesian furniture through retail stores in your market (higher cost but simpler experience), or start with a small trial project meeting our minimums before larger commitment.

We’re transparent about what to expect – realistic timelines, honest communication, quality commitment, but also acknowledgment this requires more engagement than retail shopping.

Product Selection & Customization Questions

How many furniture products can consumers choose from?

Consumers have access to our complete range of over 12,000 furniture products across all categories including indoor furniture for living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and home offices, outdoor furniture for terraces, gardens, and pools, lighting in all styles from traditional to contemporary, and home decor accessories.

This extensive selection exceeds what most single furniture stores carry, providing consumers with unusual breadth of authentic Indonesian furniture options. Additionally, approximately 40% of our production is custom-manufactured, meaning consumers aren’t limited to existing designs.

Can consumers order completely custom furniture designed specifically for their home?

Yes. Custom furniture is one of our core capabilities. We manufacture furniture from consumer-provided design ideas through several approaches: working from sketches or drawings you provide showing desired furniture, replicating or adapting furniture from reference photos you share (existing pieces you want duplicated or modified), collaborative design development where you describe what you want and we make to exact dimensions and specifications you provide.

Custom furniture allows you to create pieces perfect for your specific spaces, aesthetic preferences, and functional needs rather than compromising for available retail options.

Can I request specific wood types, finishes, or materials?

Yes. Material selection is fundamental to custom furniture. Choose from reclaimed teak (aged character, maximum durability), suar wood (dramatic grain, statement pieces), plantation teak (consistent appearance, weather-resistant), mahogany (traditional luxury appearance), mindi wood (contemporary, budget-friendly), and other Indonesian hardwoods. Select from natural clear finishes showing wood grain, stained finishes in custom colors, painted finishes in any color, or specialty finishes like weathered/driftwood looks. Specify upholstery fabrics for seating. Request specific hardware or metal finishes. Material choices significantly affect furniture appearance and cost, and we guide you through options matching your aesthetic and budget.

What if I want furniture matching something I’ve seen in a photo but don’t have detailed specifications?

This is common and workable. Share the best photos you have showing the furniture from multiple angles if possible.

Describe what you like about it and what dimensions you need. We’ll interpret the design. Our artisans are skilled at understanding design intent from reference images and translating it into manufacturable furniture. While exact replication of complex designs without specifications has limitations, we can usually create furniture capturing the aesthetic you’re seeking while adapting to manufacturing realities.

Pricing, Payment & Budget Questions

How much does it cost to buy furniture direct from Zenddu?

Furniture investment varies enormously based on what you’re ordering – quantity, materials, custom vs. catalog, finishes, and complexity. Rather than providing potentially misleading general figures, we prefer to prepare detailed quotations based on your specific requirements. Share what you want to furnish, aesthetic direction, and budget parameters and we’ll provide itemized pricing allowing you to see exactly where investment goes and make informed decisions about priorities and tradeoffs.

Direct manufacturer pricing is substantially lower than retail (typically 40-60% savings on equivalent furniture), making quality Indonesian furniture more accessible than purchasing through retail channels.

Do I need to pay everything upfront when ordering?

No. Payment terms are 50% deposit upon order confirmation and 50% balance before shipping. The deposit (due when you confirm your order) secures production scheduling and initiates material purchasing and manufacturing work. The balance payment (due when furniture is completed and ready to ship) is paid before furniture leaves Indonesia. This split payment structure is standard for manufacturing and protects both parties – you don’t pay in full until furniture is completed and approved, while we receive partial payment covering costs to begin work.

However, the same with our trade customers, if you order is below our minimum order value it must be paid in full with the order.

What payment methods does Zenddu accept from consumers?

We typically accept international wire transfer (SWIFT/bank transfer) for international consumer orders. This is standard for international B2B transactions and while it involves bank fees (typically $25-50), it’s secure and reliable for substantial payments.

Alternativilty a more modern and faster and cheaper way is to use an online money transfer company. (example www.wise.com) Many customers choose this method.

For local Bali/Indonesia orders, we can accept Indonesian bank transfer.

Are there additional costs beyond furniture pricing I should budget for?

Yes. Beyond furniture cost, there could be a consolidation cost to truck the products from the manufacturing location to our shipping warehouse in central Java.

Budget for international shipping (varies by destination and quantity – our freight fowarding partner provides estimates with quotations), import duties and taxes at destination (typically 0-5% duty on wooden furniture plus VAT/GST of 10-25% depending on country, though VAT/GST is usually recoverable for businesses), customs brokerage fees (typically $100-300 for standard clearance), and delivery from destination port to your home (varies by distance and quantity).

Our partner gives complete cost estimates during quotation so you understand the full investment required.

Is financing available for large furniture orders?

We don’t provide direct consumer financing or any credit terms

Timeline & Delivery Questions

How long does it take to receive furniture after ordering?

Complete timeline from order confirmation to furniture arriving at your home typically ranges from 4 to 6 months. Production requires 6-8 weeks for catalog furniture or 8-12 weeks for custom furniture.

Ocean shipping adds 2-8 weeks depending on destination (Asia 2-3 weeks, US West Coast 3-4 weeks, US East Coast 5-6 weeks, Europe 6-8 weeks, Australia 2-3 weeks). Customs clearance and final delivery add another 1-2 weeks.

Plan accordingly – if you need furniture for a specific date like a move-in or event, work backward from that date to establish when you must order. Rush production is sometimes possible but shouldn’t be assumed.

Can I get furniture faster than standard timeline if needed?

Sometimes it can be If you need furniture urgently, however, in most cases it’s no. Wood furniture goes through a drying process in a kiln oven for 2 to 3 weeks before any production starts. Its a very bad idea to avoid this process.

Custom furniture has less flexibility as design development and custom fabrication require minimum time for quality work. Expedited shipping (air freight instead of ocean freight) is possible but extremely expensive – often adding thousands of dollars for modest quantity – and only practical for very urgent small shipments. Realistic planning around standard timelines is best approach.

What happens if I need furniture by a specific date and delivery is delayed?

We commit to realistic timelines we can achieve and communicate proactively if any issues arise affecting schedules. However, international manufacturing and shipping involves some variables beyond our control including unexpected production challenges, ocean freight delays (weather, port congestion), customs inspection delays, and local delivery scheduling.

Build buffer time into your planning rather than cutting timelines to bare minimum. If you have fixed deadlines (moving date, event), communicate this clearly so we can prioritize your project and advise immediately if any issues arise. We cannot guarantee exact delivery dates due to variables in local weather conditions, raw materials availability, international logistics, but we work diligently to meet committed timelines.

Can furniture be stored if it arrives before I’m ready to receive it?

If we have made the furniture and you are not ready to ship it. We can stored it for a limited time in ou shipping warehouse. Long term you would need to make alternative arrangments as we can only store for a short period. Also Indonesia is tropical with rainy seasons and very high all year round humidy. Keeping packed goods in this environment is not recommened.

If furniture arrives before you’re ready, several options exist. If furniture is still at the port, you can delay pickup, though storage charges accrue after free time period (typically 5-7 days). You can arrange temporary storage with warehouse/storage companies near the port (cost varies by location and duration). Some furniture delivery companies offer short-term storage as part of their service. For international moves coordinating with other logistics, moving companies can often accommodate receiving and storing furniture. Plan delivery timing carefully to avoid storage needs when possible, but storage solutions exist if coordination doesn’t work perfectly.

What if furniture arrives damaged?

As we sell goods on an ex-works basis the risk of shipping passes to you once the goods to be collected form our warehouse.

If damage occurs: note damage contact the freight fowarder immediately, photograph damage before moving or unpacking,

Marine cargo insurance (highly recommended for valuable furniture shipments) covers shipping damage for catastrophic loss scenarios.

Materials & Quality Questions

Is furniture from Indonesia good quality or just cheap imports?

Indonesia produces furniture spanning full quality spectrum from budget commodity pieces to ultra-luxury handcrafted works. Zenddu manufactures in the latter category – high-quality handcrafted furniture using premium materials and traditional techniques. Our furniture is built to commercial hospitality standards (same quality hotels demand) with construction quality exceeding typical residential furniture.

Indonesian location provides access to exceptional materials (reclaimed teak, suar wood) and skilled artisan labor, enabling high quality at accessible pricing compared to European or American custom furniture, but “cheap” is incorrect – this is quality furniture at fair pricing, not low-quality furniture priced accordingly.

How long will furniture from Zenddu last?

Properly maintained Zenddu furniture lasts decades – typically 20-40+ years for indoor furniture and outdoor teak furniture. Our solid wood construction, traditional joinery techniques, commercial-grade finishes, and quality materials create furniture that becomes family heirlooms rather than disposable items.

Many Indonesian furniture pieces serve generations when cared for properly. By contrast, typical furniture store pieces made from particleboard with veneer finishes typically last 7-15 years before showing significant wear or structural failure. Quality furniture costs more initially but provides far better value over time through longevity, repairability when needed, and timeless design aging gracefully rather than looking dated.

What makes reclaimed teak special for furniture?

Reclaimed teak offers unique advantages for furniture. The wood is salvaged from 50-100 year old Indonesian buildings, already seasoned through decades of exposure making it more stable than newly harvested wood. This long seasoning creates denser, harder wood with superior durability. Reclaimed teak features character marks from its previous life – nail holes, mortise pockets, color variations – creating distinctive one-of-a-kind appearance impossible to replicate with new wood.

Environmentally, using reclaimed wood prevents old-growth forest harvesting while giving premium hardwood new purpose. The combination of beauty, durability, stability, character, and environmental responsibility makes reclaimed teak exceptional furniture material highly valued by discerning consumers.

Can outdoor furniture really stay outside year-round in all weather?

Yes, when manufactured from appropriate materials. Grade A teak outdoor furniture handles year-round outdoor exposure in virtually all climates including rain, sun, humidity, heat, freezing temperatures, and snow without damage or requiring seasonal storage. Teak’s natural oil content makes it genuinely weather-resistant – it has been used for boats and marine applications for centuries precisely because it withstands water and weather exposure.

Over time, teak develops attractive silver-gray patina (which protects the wood) or maintains golden color with minimal annual maintenance using teak oil. Aluminum with synthetic rattan also provides year-round weather resistance for contemporary aesthetics. Indoor furniture should not be used outdoors, but properly specified outdoor furniture is truly engineered for continuous outdoor exposure.

How do I care for Indonesian furniture?

Care requirements vary by furniture type and location. Indoor furniture requires periodic dusting and occasional cleaning with slightly damp cloth and appropriate furniture cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Protect tables from excessive heat or moisture.

Outdoor teak furniture can be left natural to develop silver patina (requiring only occasional washing with water and soft brush), or maintained golden color with annual teak oil application. Cushions should be stored during extended wet periods in seasonal climates. We provide detailed care instructions specific to your furniture materials and finishes. Quality furniture requires minimal maintenance but benefits from appropriate care extending already-long lifespan.

Customization & Design Questions

Can you help me figure out what furniture I need if I’m not sure?

Yes. Many consumers struggle determining what furniture they need, how to size pieces appropriately, or how to create cohesive aesthetics. We provide consultation during the quotation process including discussing your spaces, how you use rooms, and what furniture makes sense, recommending furniture categories and pieces based on your lifestyle, suggesting dimensions appropriate for your room sizes and proportions, advising on material and finish selections matching your aesthetic direction, and helping create cohesive furniture stories across your home.

While we’re not interior designers offering complete design services, we provide substantial guidance helping consumers make informed furniture decisions.

Can I send you photos of my space and get furniture recommendations?

Yes. Photos of your spaces help us understand context and provide better recommendations. Share photos showing room dimensions, architectural features, existing furniture or design elements you’re keeping, lighting conditions, and overall aesthetic.

Along with photos, share how you use spaces (formal dining vs. casual family meals? Entertaining frequently or intimate family living?), any specific challenges (awkward room shapes, difficult dimensions), what furniture you’re replacing or adding, and what aesthetic resonates with you (modern, traditional, eclectic, coastal, etc.). This information helps us recommend furniture appropriate for your specific situation rather than generic suggestions.

What if I change my mind about design after ordering?

Design changes after ordering are challenging. Before production begins, changes are usually possible with potential timeline adjustments and possible cost implications depending on change nature.

Once production begins, changes become difficult or impossible as work has progressed and materials are committed. This is why we emphasize thorough design approval before production begins. For custom furniture, we create shop drawings requiring your explicit approval. Any uncertainty or questions should be resolved during approval phase, not after production starts.

While we’re sympathetic to changing minds, manufacturing realities limit flexibility once production begins.

Can you work with my interior designer?

Yes. We regularly work with interior designers and architects specifying furniture for their clients’ homes. Designers provide professional expertise in spatial planning, aesthetic direction, and design cohesion we support through manufacturing capability. Interior designers help consumers who want professional guidance navigating furniture selection and customization.

If you’re working with a designer, they can communicate directly with us about furniture specifications, or you can coordinate communication. Either way, professional design input usually improves outcomes while we focus on manufacturing quality furniture meeting specifications.

Shipping, Logistics & Import Questions

How does international furniture shipping work?

International furniture shipping involves ocean freight in containers. For larger orders, furniture may fill a 20-foot or 40-foot shipping container exclusively (FCL – full container load). For smaller orders, furniture shares container space with other shipments (LCL – less than container load).

Container ships from Indonesian port to your destination port (major ports in your country). At destination, furniture must clear customs (usually handled by customs broker) before release for final delivery to your home. The process takes weeks but is well-established for furniture importing. We handle Indonesian export side completely and provide documentation needed for destination import.

Do I need to hire a customs broker?

Most consumers use licensed customs brokers for import clearance, especially for first imports. Customs brokers review shipping documentation, classify furniture correctly, prepare customs paperwork, calculate and pay duties/taxes on your behalf, coordinate with customs officials, and arrange pickup from port.

Broker costs typically $100-300 for standard clearance. Brokers provide expertise navigating customs procedures, form completion, and regulations. While consumers can technically clear customs themselves, professionals make the process smoother. We can recommend brokers in major markets based on other clients’ experiences, or you can find brokers near your destination port online.

What import duties will I pay on Indonesian furniture?

Import duties vary by destination country and specific furniture items but are generally low. United States: wooden furniture typically 0-2% duty, many Indonesian products enter duty-free or at very low rates. Canada: 0-9.5% varying by product. European Union: 0-2.7% duty. United Kingdom: 0-2% duty. Australia: 0-5% duty.

Additionally, most countries charge VAT or GST (Value-Added Tax/Goods and Services Tax) ranging from 10-25% depending on country. Consult your customs broker for exact rates for your specific furniture. Import duties are typically much less than retail markup avoided by purchasing direct, making direct import still significantly economical even with duties and fees.

For correct costs consult with your countries government import department.

What if furniture gets stuck in customs?

Customs delays occasionally happen, usually due to random inspections, documentation questions, or peak season congestion. If delays occur, your customs broker (or our clearing agent for DDP shipments) communicates with customs officials to resolve issues.

Common scenarios include customs requesting additional documentation (which we provide promptly), physical inspection being scheduled (adds several business days), questions about furniture valuation or classification (broker handles), or simply waiting during peak periods when customs is backlogged. Most delays resolve within 3-7 business days. While frustrating, delays are occasional realities of international trade and rarely indicate serious problems.

Local Bali/Indonesia Consumer Questions

Can consumers in Bali or Indonesia order furniture directly from Zenddu?

Yes. Bali and Java residents can order furniture with minimum order value of IDR 10,000,000 (Indonesian Rupiah). Local ordering is simpler than international orders – no international shipping, no import duties, no customs clearance.

Production timelines are the same (6-12 weeks depending on custom requirements), but delivery is much faster (typically 1-2 weeks after production completion for Bali and Java and  2-4 weeks for other Indonesian islands).

Can I pick up furniture directly from Zenddu rather than having it delivered?

Yes, for local Bali/Indonesia customers. Once your furniture is completed, we coordinate pickup timing. You (or your moving company/delivery company) collect furniture from our warehouse facility in Jepara. We provide loading assistance.

You arrange transportation to your location. This approach saves delivery costs but requires you managing furniture transportation logistics. For heavy or large furniture pieces, professional furniture delivery services with appropriate vehicles and equipment are recommended. Pickup works best for consumers with access to appropriate vehicles and loading assistance, or those using professional movers handling pickup and delivery.
