The Custom Made Furniture Process

Step 1: Initial Consultation & Requirements Gathering

Step 2: Design Development & Quotation

Based on our consultation, we develop detailed specifications and pricing for your custom furniture project.

Step 3: Order Confirmation & Deposit

Once you approve final specifications (with or without sample production), we formalize the order through a detailed proforma invoice and collect deposit payment to begin production.

Order Documentation Includes:
– Complete itemized purchase order listing every furniture piece, quantity, specifications
– Material and finish selections
– Production timeline with estimated completion date
– Shipping arrangements and estimated delivery date
– Payment terms 
– Warranty terms
– Quality standards and inspection process
– Modification and cancellation policies

Deposit Payment:
Custom furniture requires 50% deposit upon order confirmation. This deposit covers:
– Material purchasing (we buy your specific materials)
– Production scheduling (artisans reserve capacity for your project)
– Custom setup costs (any special tooling, jigs, or templates needed)

If the order value is below 5000 USD payment is required in full.

Timeline: 2-3 business days to finalize paperwork after the deposit is recieved.

Step 4: Material Sourcing & Preparation

Before manufacturing begins, we source and prepare all materials for your custom furniture, ensuring wood is properly dried, finishes are color-matched, hardware is ordered, and everything is ready for production.

-Material Sourcing: Wood: Selected for grain quality, color consistency, and lack of defects. Reclaimed teak is hand-selected from salvaged building materials. New wood comes from SVLK-certified sources.
– Hardware: Drawer slides, hinges, handles, legs, and other components ordered to your specifications (we can source specific brands/styles if requested)
– Upholstery Materials: Fabrics, foams, and webbing meeting your performance requirements
– Finishing Materials: Custom stain colors mixed to match your samples or reference colors

Material Preparation:
– Wood kiln dried to proper moisture content (8-12% for furniture-grade timber)
– Cutting and dimensioning rough materials to approximate sizes
– Initial surface preparation
– Quality inspection of all materials before production begins

Progress Updates:
We provide photos of selected materials for your approval, especially for projects emphasizing wood grain character or where color matching is critical.

Step 5: Custom Furniture Production

Our skilled artisans make your custom furniture following approved specifications, using traditional Indonesian woodworking techniques combined with modern precision and quality control.

Production Stages:

Rough Fabrication

– Cutting components to precise dimensions
– Creating joinery (mortise and tenon, dovetails, dowels as appropriate)
– Initial assembly to verify fit and alignment
– Any bending, shaping, or carving required

Assembly & Refinement

– Final assembly of components
– Reinforcement with corner blocks, braces as needed
– Sanding and surface preparation
– Fitting of hardware, drawers, doors
– Upholstery work if applicable

Finishing

– Stain application if using colored finishes
– Multiple coats of sealer/topcoat (typically 3-5 coats)
– Drying time between coats
– Final sanding and buffing
– Wax or polish application

Quality Inspection

We provide photo updates at key production milestones:

Step 6: Pre-Shipment Quality Inspection & Approval

Before your furniture ships, every piece undergoes rigorous final inspection and we provide comprehensive photo documentation for your approval. This is your opportunity to identify any concerns before furniture leaves Indonesia.

Final Quality Inspection Checklist:

Structural Integrity:
– Joint strength and stability
– No wobbling or racking
– Reinforcement adequately applied
– Weight capacity appropriate for use

Dimensional Accuracy:
– All measurements match specifications (within ±2mm tolerance)
– Symmetry where required
– Proper clearances for drawers, doors, moving parts

Finish Quality:
– Smooth surface free of runs, drips, rough spots
– Even color matching your approved samples
– Proper coverage and sheen level
– No contamination or debris in finish
– Edges and corners properly finished

Hardware & Function:
– Drawers slide smoothly
– Doors open/close properly and stay closed
– Hinges aligned correctly
– Handles/pulls secure and aligned
– Levelers or glides installed properly

Overall Craftsmanship:
– Clean joinery without gaps
– Consistent wood grain orientation where applicable
– No visible defects, cracks, or damage

Photo Documentation:
We photograph your complete order from multiple angles including:
– Overall views of each piece
– Detail shots of joinery and construction
– Close-ups of finish quality
– Hardware and functional elements
– The complete furniture set together

You receive these photos for review and approval. Most clients approve immediately, but if you identify concerns, we address them before shipping:
– Minor issues: Touch-up, adjustment, or repair
– Major issues: Piece remake if necessary (rare but we stand behind our quality)

The final payment is now made by you.

Step 7: Careful Packaging & Container Loading

Approved furniture is professionally packaged to survive international shipping and loaded into containers using techniques preventing damage during transit.

Packaging Process:

Protection Materials:
– Furniture wrapped in protective foam or corregated paper
– Corners and edges padded with foam guards
– Glass and fragile elements secured with cardboard
– Plastic wrap protecting against moisture

Boxing/Crating:
– Smaller pieces boxed with adequate padding
– Fragile pieces crated in wooden crates if needed
– Upholstered furniture covered with plastic to prevent soiling

Container Loading:
– Strategic placement preventing shifting during transit
– Heavy items on bottom, lighter items on top
– Strapping and blocking to prevent movement
– Loading plan maximizing space while ensuring safety
– Photo documentation of loading process

Step 8: International Shipping & Customs

We arrange container shipping from Indonesia to your destination through our freight forwarding paartner. They  provide all necessary export documentation. You receive tracking information and can monitor your shipment’s progress online.

Please note: Full payment must be recived by us before any order can be collected.

Final Payment:
Remaining balance is due before shipping (we send photos for approval, you pay balance, we ship). 

Step 9: Delivery 

Container arrives at destination port, you clear customs, arrange final delivery.

Customs Clearance:
Most clients use a customs broker to handle:
– Import documentation review
– Duty and tax calculation and payment
– Customs inspection if required
– Release authorization

Installation:
Most products are fully assembled and require minimal assembly:
– Tables: Attach legs (typically 4-6 bolts) Most require no assembly depends on design.
– Chairs: Usually arrive fully assembled
– Case goods: May require drawer installation, shelf placement
– Beds: Headboard and frame assembly
