GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is Zenddu?

Zenddu is an Indonesian furniture manufacturer and exporter based in Bali, founded in 2018. We specialize in handcrafted luxury furniture, lighting, and home decor made from sustainable materials like reclaimed teak wood, suar wood, rattan, and wicker. We serve hospitality projects (hotels, resorts, restaurants) and furniture retailers worldwide with over 12,000 products in our catalog.

Where is Zenddu furniture made?

All Zenddu furniture is handcrafted in Java, Indonesia, by skilled artisans using traditional Indonesian woodworking techniques combined with modern quality standards. Handicrafts and accessories are made in Java and Bali. Our production facilities work with local craftspeople who specialize in teak wood furniture, rattan weaving, and metal work for lighting fixtures.

What makes Zenddu furniture sustainable?

Zenddu prioritizes environmental responsibility through multiple practices. We primarily use reclaimed teak wood salvaged from old buildings and structures, giving new life to premium hardwood that would otherwise go to waste. Our rattan is sourced from certified sustainable plantations that practice responsible harvesting. We work exclusively with producers who follow ethical labor practices and minimize environmental impact. All wood materials are FSC-certified or reclaimed, and we incorporate recycled materials wherever possible in our production process.

Who are Zenddu’s clients?

Zenddu serves two main customer segments globally. Our hospitality clients include hotels, resorts, boutique accommodations, restaurants, cafes, beach clubs, and luxury villas seeking distinctive Indonesian furniture. Notable hospitality clients include ClubMed Singapore, Edmond de Rothschild Switzerland, and JRK Property Holdings USA. We also serve furniture retailers and importers who want unique, handcrafted pieces for their showrooms, including Njork Ark in Denmark and Lavin of Paris in France.

Does Zenddu supply consumers?

Yes as long as they meet our minimum order value which is 5000 USD for export and 10,000,000 IDR for local sales.

How many products does Zenddu offer?

Our online catalog includes over 12,000 different products spanning indoor furniture, outdoor furniture, lighting, and home decor. This extensive selection includes dining tables, chairs, sofas, beds, cabinets, garden furniture, chandeliers, pendant lights, wall art, mirrors, and decorative accessories.

Approximately 40% of what we produce is custom-made to client specifications, so beyond our catalog, we can create virtually any furniture design you need.

Does Zenddu have a Environmnetal Policy?

We partner with producers who care about protecting the environment in Indonesia.

We encourage producers to use recycled materials and up-cycle products where possible. We actively support producers who are environmentally responsible. We try to work with producers who are certified and work in accordance with the standards of:

SVLK (Indonesian Legal Wood) FSC (Forest stewardship Council) PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and TFT (The Forest Trust). Zenddu actively encourages its producers to be environmentally responsible and to join environmental organisations.

Does Zenddu have a Fair Trade policy?

Our Ethical & Fair Trade policy is a trading partnership pledge we operate with our producers. We ensure all of the individual craftsmen, artisans and workers who work in partnership with us receive fair compensation for the goods they produce.

Trade Opportunities

We enable them to move from income insecurity and poverty to economic self-sufficiency and ownership. We give small producers a regular source of income, and for many, an opportunity to export their products for the first time. Many whom don’t even have a bank account.

We look to maintain long-term relationships with our producers based on solidarity, trust and mutual respect that contribute to the promotion and growth of Fair Trade.

Working Conditions

Many of our producers work from home or in small village co-operatives often in remote locations. In these circumstances, we have no control over working conditions.

However, those working for companies, we require the company to ensure a safe working environment that satisfies at a minimum all local statutory regulations

PRE SALE QUESTIONS

What does Ex-works prices mean?

It means the price from the place of production. It’s like a collection price. If you went to a local company and bought items you would buy them and take them away. However, you would expect to pay a delivery charge if you asked them to collect goods from other companies in other locations and then deliver it to another location in your country or overseas.

Most of our suppliers pack items which is included in the price, but some don’t and we have to arrange it to be packed and add this cost. It doesn’t include any special packing requirements you have.

Most items or packed in single face corrugated paper for loading in a container. You may request all items be boxed or if they are being shipped LCL they may need crating. It also excludes any trucking, consolidation cost, export document costs or freight shipping) These are charged separately for the total shipment not per item.

Why does Zenddu quote ex-works prices and not FOB prices?

It quite simple, it’s impossible for us to quote FOB prices in a price list or quotation. The reason is FOB prices are from one location usually a factory and trucked to the same port every time so the cost can be calculated easily.

However, our products are made in 100’s of locations and we ship from different ports, depending which is the closest port. If you order a mixture of products which is what 99% of customers do, they most likely are made in different locations.

This is the problem. The goods then need to be trucked to a central location so they are together for loading on the container.

This cost is never the same as it depends on the location of the production, how many different locations, how far apart they are from each other and the quantities ordered. As all customers order different products and reorder different products or quantities the cost is always changing and never fixed.

In simple terms FOB is the cost of goods + a proportion of the export cost added to each item.

We give you the cost of goods + the cost to consolidate the goods + the cost to export the whole order as a separate costs. These consolidation costs can only be calculated once the order and quantities have been decided and fixed.

Does Zenddu have a minimum order?

on our standard products the minimum order value is US$5000.00 for export and 10,000,000 IDR for local orders

However, we will accept a lower value but you need to understand there are certain costs incurred by you for the exporting of the goods imposed by the Indonesia government.

Does Zenddu have a minimum order quantity?

Minimum order quantities vary from product to product, Most products you can order just one.

We will advise you if any item needs to be higher quantity. Common sense will tell you what needs to by a higher quantity. This will be mainly for small cheap items. For example we sell bamboo straws you can’t buy 1 you need to buy 100. But most furniture can be bought singularly.

What is Zenddu’s trading terms?

Our standard terms require a 50% deposit of the goods value. Once the deposit is received we then start production. The balance and any consolidation and export costs are due 2 weeks before the completion of the order and paid must be fully paid before we release them for any ocean or air freight shipping.

Why does Zenddu require a deposit?

To make our pricing competitive we work on small margins. Most of our producers are small companies, co-operatives or individuals working from home in rural areas. They’re craftsmen not businessmen and live simple lives, Most don’t have the financial resources to buy the raw materials and pay other craftsmen to produce your goods without the payment of a deposit.

Does Zenddu offer credit terms?

Unfortunately at this time we don’t offer credit terms.

How long are Zenddu quotations valid for?

Normally our quotations are valid for 30 days.

How does Zenddu pack orders?

The packing materials used will vary depending on the products. Generally, most goods are packed with corrugated paper, or boxed. Fragile large items, for example, large ceramic pots are packed in wooden crates. Products can also be packed to customer requirements and specifications at an additional cost.

Does Zenddu’s products comply with the laws in my country?

All countries have different laws, regulations and restrictions for products being imported and we don’t know the laws of foreign countries. In the eyes of the law in your country, you are the importer, so you are responsible to make sure the goods comply with your countries regulations, not the manufacturer.

We can not be held responsible and It is for you to check with your governments appropriate departments to ensure all products being imported into the destination country by you conform to the import countries rules, regulations and laws.

Including but not limited to any importing licences required, quota restrictions, limitations on the import of any item, banned imports of some or all products from a particular country of origin, any goods type restraints, any size restrictions, any  banned materials, specific safety regulations covering the products, ensure labelling and packaging meets legal requirements, Products do not infringe intellectual property rights within your country, any duties and taxes.

You MUST advise us in writing of any restrictions, regulations or standards required for the products relating to importing to your destination country before placing an order.

QUALITY QUESTIONS

Does Zenddu have a quality control team?

We have our own quality control staff who inspect all products.

When your order has been manufactured our quality control staff will travel to each location where the products are being made to inspect the products. The inspection is a FULL quality control inspection. This includes counting every item to make sure the right quantities have been produced, checking products meet the right specifications, and a physical inspection of every product for any signs of defects (including scratches, marks, finishes, stability etc)

All wooden items are moisture tested. Any products not meeting our high standards are rejected and reworked until they reach the necessary standards required. If any item needing fixing can not be fixed in time to meet the shipping date we will advise you immediately and a decision is made by you to ship the rejected product separately once complete at your cost, add the rejected item to the next order or cancel the faulty item.

For orders that are less than USD $5,000.00 we don’t visit the suppliers as it’s not economical but ask the craftsmen to send us photographic evidence of the finished products before and after packing.

What quality standards does Zenddu follow?

Every Zenddu product undergoes rigorous quality inspection before leaving our facility. Our quality control process includes wood moisture content testing (to prevent warping), structural stability testing for furniture joints, finish quality inspection for smooth surfaces and even color, and dimensional accuracy verification against specifications. For custom orders, we provide detailed photos at multiple production stages for client approval. All shipments are thoroughly inspected and documented before container loading.

Can Zenddu make custom furniture?

Yes, custom furniture is one of our specialties. Approximately 40% of our business involves custom-made pieces designed to client specifications. We can create bespoke furniture in any style, size, or finish you need, whether it’s 10 custom chairs for a boutique hotel or 200 lounge pieces for a resort project. Our artisans work directly from your design drawings, documents, or reference photos.

How long does custom furniture production take?

Custom furniture projects at Zenddu typically take 8-12 weeks from design approval to completion. This timeline includes material sourcing, handcrafting by our artisans, quality inspection, and preparation for shipping. Rush orders may be accommodated depending on project complexity and current production schedule. Large hospitality projects with multiple custom pieces may require 12-16 weeks to ensure quality across the entire order.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom furniture?

We accommodate both small and large custom orders. There is no strict minimum order quantity, though custom projects are most cost-effective at 10 pieces or more due to setup and tooling requirements. For smaller custom orders (under 10 pieces), we provide individual quotes based on design complexity. Large hospitality projects can range from 50 to several hundred custom pieces.

Can you match furniture to my design specifications?

Absolutely. Our custom furniture service works from your exact specifications including dimensions, materials, wood species, finish color, hardware choices, and design details. You can provide drawings, hand sketches, reference photos, or existing furniture samples you’d like replicated. Our design team will create shop drawings for your approval before production begins, ensuring the final product matches your vision precisely.

PRODUCT QUESTIONS

What types of furniture does Zenddu manufacture?

Zenddu manufactures a comprehensive range of furniture and decor across multiple categories. Indoor furniture includes dining tables, dining chairs, coffee tables, side tables, console tables, sofas, armchairs, lounge chairs, beds, nightstands, wardrobes, cabinets, shelving, and TV units. Outdoor furniture includes garden dining sets, outdoor lounge furniture, sun loungers, daybeds, poolside furniture, and patio accessories. We also produce lighting (chandeliers, pendant lights, table lamps, floor lamps) and home decor items (mirrors, wall art, sculptures, vases, and textiles).

Is Zenddu furniture suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, we specialize in outdoor furniture designed to withstand the elements. Our outdoor furniture is primarily crafted from Grade A teak wood, which is naturally water-resistant, insect-resistant, and extremely durable in outdoor conditions. Teak contains natural oils that protect against moisture, making it ideal for poolside, patio, and garden use. We also offer outdoor furniture with powder-coated aluminum frames and synthetic rattan weaving that resists UV damage and moisture. All outdoor cushions use quick-dry foam and weather-resistant fabrics rated for outdoor exposure.

What is reclaimed teak and why is it better?

Reclaimed teak wood comes from old buildings, bridges, railway sleepers, and structures that have been carefully dismantled. This teak has already been seasoned for decades or even centuries, making it more stable and less prone to warping than new wood. Reclaimed teak also has a beautiful aged patina and character with natural weathering, nail holes, and color variations that add unique charm to furniture. Environmentally, using reclaimed teak prevents old-growth forests from being harvested and gives new life to premium hardwood that would otherwise go to waste. The density and durability of reclaimed teak exceeds new teak, as the wood has already undergone natural hardening over many years.

How do I care for teak wood furniture?

Teak furniture requires minimal maintenance due to its natural durability and oil content. For indoor teak furniture, simply dust regularly and wipe with a damp cloth as needed. For outdoor teak furniture, you have two options depending on your aesthetic preference. Option one: allow the teak to naturally weather to a silver-gray patina, which is completely natural and doesn’t affect durability – simply rinse with water periodically and scrub with a soft brush if needed. Option two: maintain the original golden-brown color by applying teak oil or teak sealer 2-3 times per year. Avoid harsh chemicals and pressure washing. For stubborn stains on outdoor teak, use a mild soap solution and soft brush.

Do you offer a product warranty?

All our standard products come with a 12 month limited manufacturing warranty This is based from date on our final invoice and based on manufacturing defects and fair wear and tear usage.
